Matt Knabe is a partner with Englander Knabe & Allen where he specializes in political consulting, campaign management, public affairs, government relations and issues and communications strategy. Prior to joining Englander Knabe & Allen, Matt was a Vice President with the MWW Public Affairs Group.
As a former Deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, Matt represented the Fourth District in the areas of Long Beach, Signal Hill and Catalina. He also handled all political strategy, policy and legislation for the Supervisor. His other responsibilities included the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles County Lifeguards, Veterans Affairs, the Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures, and County Golf Issues. He was the internal point man for each of the Supervisors three elections and has worked on over 50 political campaigns in his career ranging from ballot initiatives to City, County, State and Federal Offices. Matt has left an indelible mark on issues he was passionate about at the county that included the Safe Surrender Baby Law, Rancho Los Amigos and the Los Angeles County Junior Golf Program. He also created the Knabe Cup High School Golf Tournaments for Boys and Girls High School Golf Teams in the Supervisor’s Fourth District.
Matt’s strengths are working issues from beginning to end with great relationships at Los Angeles County and the cities within the County. He is very involved with strong relationships at both Contract Cities and Independent Cities as well. It is hard to find someone with better interaction with local city managers, mayors and elected officials than Matt.
In addition to his work, Matt is very involved in giving back to the community and believes strongly that everyone has the obligation to do so. Matt is currently the President of the Paramount Education Project. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the following organizations: US VETS, United States Golf Little League, Rotary Club of Long Beach, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Beach, Children Today, Long Beach City College Foundation of Governors and the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation in support of the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Hospital. In addition, Matt also serves on the LAEDC Board of Governors. He has served on numerous other boards in the Long Beach and Southeast Los Angeles County Region.
Born and raised in Cerritos, CA, Matt currently resides in Long Beach, California with his wife, Briana and their two small children. A graduate of Pepperdine University in 1996, where he majored in Political Science, Matt was also a 4-year member of the Pepperdine University Men’s Golf Team.
